Procedure Followed by Management

STEP I       
BEFORE THE RESULTS
  1. Pamphlets are distributed in the schools
  2. Teachers are contacted to find bright and intelligent student who is interested in studying further for the science stream
  3. Meet the parents of the student and explain them about the future of higher education and that the cost borne by them will be minimal if they follow our advice and give permission and encourage their child to go for higher education
  4. Students are asked to send their copies of results to us
PROCESS OF THE APPLICATIONS FOR RELIEF TO BE GIVEN TO THE STUDENTS AND VERIFICATION

STEP II    
AFTER THE RESULTS
  1. We give Application forms to the parents/ students which should be duly filled and well-documented with details and their request for donation required by them
  2. Our members individually or jointly check the forms and verify their request to know the genuineness of the application made.
  3. Local volunteers help our committee members during the verification
  4. Local volunteers also try convincing parents and students to opt for higher education for better future
  5. Students and Parents are called for interview. They are separately or jointly asked few questions.
STEP III    
INTERVIEW OF STUDENT AND PARENTS

QUESTIONS GENERALLY ASKED BY COMMITTEE MEMBERS
  1. Are they mentally ready for further educations, in other words repeated, Higher Education where they have to spare 7 years of Studying and Internship
  2. What amount of money can they spare for their child during these years to the maximum
  3. How much money can they manage extra each year? If they do manage are they ready to spare for their child?
  4. Questions to students regarding their knowledge of science and their personal interest in science by teachers selected by the Committee members.
  5. Commitment: If they want to discontinue during the Degree / Diploma course? If so, they are told not to waste our or their child’s time.
  6. How much money do they expect from ASWT Education Relief and Scholarship Fund each year?
  7. Whether they are eligible for Zakaat Fund? If Yes, they are to be confirmed by our local volunteer/s.
  8. Our Terms and Conditions are explained to the Parents and Students.
  9. They are then told that their application is under process and they will be individually informed by the Management in near future.
  10. Committee members then suggest to the Trustees for Scholarship purpose regarding each student they have screened.
  11. Trustees discuss with the Committee Members and Volunteers regarding feasibility and students capacity to go for further studies.
  12. Amount to be set aside for the Scholarships/ Education Relief and Amount expected from the prospective Donors
  13. At the time of payment we try to stretch as much as we can to give as much as we can to the student.

YEARLY REVIEW OF THE STUDENTS
Yearly Review of each student’s individual Performance will be taken into scrutiny and necessary action shall be taken to improve their performances.

For this, the above committee members will be asked to give their own individual recommendations and then only decision will be taken.

In this way we shall be able to encourage student to study well and concentrate better in their academics.

We plan to give gifts and certificates/ Merits to each of the high rankers and their performances will be projected in local newspapers and conferences or programmes held by Alipore Social Welfare Trust.

ELIGIBILITY FOR EDUCATION RELIEFS & SCHOLARSHIPS
WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR EDUCATION RELIEF & SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS ?
  1. Poor Students (those who are eligible for Zakaat Fund)
  2. Students /Parents who can spare at least 7 Years for Medical and Internship
  3. Education Reliefs are given to students who are from well-to-do families but cannot afford to spend high amount for their child’s education.
  4. Karze-Hasanah (Simple Loan without Interest) is given to those who do not want to avail Zakaat or Education Reliefs
TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS / PARENTS
  1. They have to commit themselves to spare 7 Years atleast for Education.
  2. They have to concentrate in their studies.
  3. They must keep themselves clean (Physically, mentally and socially).
  4. They should abide by the rules and regulations set by the Academy/ Hostel Management.
  5. Indiscipline will not be tolerated and their future funds might be affected.
  6. After they become Doctors, they have to work for atleast 2 (TWO) Years at Alipore Social Welfare Trust’s Alipore Hospital & Research Centre as a Medical Officer.
  7. If they want to go for even further studies, say MD, MS, etc, then they have to individually request the Committee Members about their plans.
  8. They have to promise that they shall, after they become Doctors and have enough funds to spare, and then they will fund for atleast One Student for Medical Education during their lifetime and also put the same condition to that student (beneficiary) that he shall follow this legacy.
  9. They have to pray namaaz (salaat) and observe Fast during the month of Ramadaan. They have to remember all those donors whom they do not know in their prayers (duaa).
