SCOPE OF GETTING ADMISSION MEDICAL EDUCATION IN INDIA FOR POOR, LOW AND MEDIUM MIDDLE CLASS STUDENTS Easy Admissions in Medical Colleges in the States of Gujarat, Maharashtra or any part of India is possible to those students who have scored Highest Marks and are in Merit List in their respective Education Board (X + 2, popularly known as H.S.C. Science). The student who has passed XII Science Stream has to achieve atleast 9% of narks to get their admission directly under Government quota. Or else he/ she should be eligible in Scheduled Caste/Tribes and O.B.C. Category. If otherwise the admission is near to impossible As there is Reservation of more than 60% of Medical and Dental Seats for Scheduled Caste/ Tribes , OBC students, Minister / Collector / Secretariat Quota. So if the child no matter brighter than the student in the above quotas is deprived from Medical Degree. Private Placement: Trustee Quota is available for the medical Students at a Cost of Donations to the tune of Rs. 1.5 Million to Rs. 3.5 Million depending upon the reputation of the Medical / Dental Colleges. Apart from this they have to spend for Capitation fees, Tuition Fees, Lodging, Boarding, and so on( say Rs. 500,000/-). Every year the fees can be increased by 10% to 15%. WHERE SHALL POOR OR MIDDLE CLASS GO?
OPTION A
OPTION B WHERE DOES POOR & NEEDY FAMILIES STAND? RESERVATIONS: Government of India has envisaged reservations and there is quota for Scheduled and Backward Caste and OBC Students. No matter what percentage they get, their admission is reserved because of Backward Class benefits. No matter they achieve lower percentage of results and their marks are comparatively much lower than the other students, due to reservations, their quota is fixed and hence their admission is easily available for them. But students from other class, namely Poor and Lower & Medium Middle Class and especially Muslim Students who do not fall under the eligible quota envisaged by the Government of India, has to strive for admission and either have to cough up for ‘Donations’. If they cannot afford to do that they have no option, but to opt for other studies in Science Faculty where he/she hardly has any interest. Hence eligible students are deprived from Medical Education just because of Bad Policy by the Government. Any Government (Ruling or Opposition) are for reservations for the enormous votes they get from these classes of people. There is an agitation of Students against this policy, which has nationwide impact. No decision has yet been taken as both, the Ruling and the Oppositions are more interested in their ‘Vote Bank’. 45% of votes they get are from Scheduled/ Backward Caste and tribes and OBC (additional 27% proposed by Government of India from the year 2007). IF THESE STUDENTS DO NOT GET ADMISSIONS: in the Medical Colleges in India then the other option is to give them opportunity to travel to Russia where there is 6 – Year Medical Degree Course with a total expense of around Rs. 1,200,000/- ( for 6 years) that is Rs. 200,000/- every year for six years. In Sterling Pounds, the total expense for ONE YEAR is £ 2,500/- and for SIX YEAR COURSE for MEDICAL DEGREE comes to £ 15,000/-(6 Years). At ASWT Education Relief & Scholarship Fund Management, the Members have done deep study in this matter and have come to a conclusion to send these eligible students to Russia for their further education for the M.B.B.S. Course. |
