INTRODUCTION

In this world of science and technology, modern machineries and computerisation, we have already passed above jet-age. The time has come for us to educate the next generation to graduation and post graduation level. We at Alipore and around Alipore lag behind as far as higher education is concerned.

Surveys prove that we have lot of students in Arts and Commerce Faculty and they are much more than required, and that demand for Medical and Information Technology faculties are much more and we don’t have enough students.

By educating the children in Arts and Commerce Faculty, what we create is just an army of unemployed youths, in the society. Hence, We, at Alipore Social Welfare Trust have decided to give scholarships to those students who deserves and are eligible to be Doctors or for Para-Medical Studies and for that we have started talent search in and around Alipore. We, at Alipore Social Welfare Trust, have a committee of professionals who are on the hunt for the talented students. They are in continuous contacts with the teachers in the villages and get information regarding their studies.

We have decided to choose five talented youths for science faculty whom we shall adopt as soon as they pass their Secondary Examination and send them to such institution where they shall get best education and if possible we shall pick at least one student per year for Medical Education.

Scholarships will be given to students who deserve further education (Medical and / or Para-medical). The terms and condition are easy. For well-to-do students, the student will be given money as a loan (bursaries) which they have to repay after graduation by working at Alipore Hospital for atleast two years and if ever any amount remains they will be given opportunity to repay in easy monthly instalments. Or from the Zakaat Fund (if need be) we can directly donate the needy student without any repayment, provided we have enough funds to contribute.

For the year 2005-06, We had adopted two students for Medical Studies (MBBS), this year; we have also adopted Two Orphan Children (1 Male Child for M. Sc. Bio-Chem. and another Child, his sister, for HSC Science Faculty + Information Technology) who shall be graduating from The University of Mumbai. Both the student has always got First Class marks in all their previous exams (for information click here). 

We also shall be initially giving scholarships to atleast 5 students, right from their matriculation (SSC/ICSE/CBSE level) for science faculty and help them gain admissions in Medical, Dental and Para-Medical fields like B. Pharma., DMLT (Laboratory Technician), Nursing Degree etc.

For the year 2006-07, we have distributed pamphlets and have organised Education Promotion Programmes in the area and have received good feedback. The details of students who have applied are under process (for information click here).

If we donate money to someone, the money is utilised in various things, but if we utilise our funds for educating youngsters we are, in fact, investing in their future and making them capable to donate as per their capabilities.

EDUCATION PROMOTION PROGRAMMES

If we sow seed of education today the result will be seen only after they complete their studies and are Graduates.

It is important that all the students we sponsor complete their education fully and that there are no drop-outs, without any valid reasons. We will be encouraging them with Medals or Certificates in our Prize Distribution Day.

Where there shall be morale-boosting speeches and Top- Level Delegates will be requested to give their advices in support of Higher education and its importance when we talk of globalisation.

ASWT Education Relief and Scholarship Fund Management will, at school level, adopt bright students from poor and needy families and shall try to persuade them & their parents through individuals, teachers and Elders. Students who stood out best in their academic year shall be given prizes and Merit Certificates.

Once they join Medical/ Dental or Para Medical Degree/Courses, they will be sponsored by ASWT Education Relief and Scholarship Fund Management.

ASWT EDUCATION RELIEF & SCHOLARSHIP FUND was introduced with a view that aspiring and brilliant students are not deprived from proper education which he deserves, just on monetary grounds. We want these deserving youngsters to become perfect professionals and see to it that they gain from quality educations and start to contribute to become a responsible citizen in future.

Our view is to make these youngsters future by helping them in such educations which will be helpful for them to become a professional or at least get them a decent job.

We at ASWT have a Committee of professionals who are on the hunt for the talented students. They are in touch with schools in the interior part of the areas where there are sessions to propagate the values of high education and to encourage bright students to go for Science Stream.
