Nursing is an inseparable part of the health care system and runs parallel to medical science in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In a hospital from the general ward to the operating theater, nursing forms an integral part. This is one of the few domains of work that is almost totally dominated by women. There is an ever growing demand for Nurses from Hospitals, Nursing homes, Clinics and Heath Departments
Alipore Hospital & Research Centre is today a reputed Institution and our Vision is not only limited to providing health care but The Social upliftment of the society we serve is also our responsibility. This is motivation behind ASWT ALIPORE HOSPITAL NURSING & PARA-MEDICAL INSTITUTE. At Alipore Hospital, we have been giving practical training to nursing students past 7 years and these student nurses have obtained employments in various healthcare centres around their area and have become self-reliant and self-sufficient, in many cases they are now the Bread Earners for their family. Unlike in other hospitals, we have been giving these practical trainings to these poor students without any fees or charges.

During the year, ASWT Nursing and Para-Medical Institute has taken a step further and joined hands with Government of Gujarat’s Gujarat Knowledge Society (GKS) for ‘Nursing Assistant’ Course. We had 22 students in the last year’s batch, we are pleased to inform you that all these students were successful in their exams and are now certified by Gujarat Government itself.

We are proud to inform you that Our Institution has been formally requested by ‘Indira Gandhi national Open University (IGNOU)’, New Delhi to start a ‘Study Centre’ for its ‘School of Health Sciences’ which shall provide education for ‘Certificate Courses’ in various health Related Subjects.

This Academic year, 2010-11, we are pursuing the following activities:-

1)  NURSING ASSISTANT: 50 girl students, from poor families, are being trained as ‘Nursing Assistants’, totally Free of Cost. Classes are taken with latest Audio Visual Technology (Power point Presentations on LCD Projectors) and in a Simulated Hospital Ward initially and then practically trained in the Hospital. Classes are conducted by the Matron (Ex Government Civil Hospital Matron)  and by all the Consultants as per the Syllabus. They Shall receive their Certification from Govt. Of Gujarat GKS, or from IGNOU School of Health Sciences.

2) PHARMACY INTERNSHIP TRAINING : The Pharmacy Department and Alipore Hospital Medical Store is recognised for Internship Training for Diploma Pharmacy and we are at Present training 3 Interns.

3)  PATHOLOGY LABORATORY TRAINING: Our Hospital’s Pathology Lab provides Internship Training and Observership training to Diploma Medical Lab Technology Students. We have plans to start a Medical Lab Technology Certificate Course and the Affiliation Process has been initiated.

4) RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT: Technicians are in Demand for Imaging Technology and Our Radiology Department has Apprentices who shall become X-Ray Technicians after their training. We shall begin Diploma/Certificate in Imaging Technology courses soon.

5)  FIRST AID TRAINING TO INDUSTRIAL WORKERS:  We organise workshops to impart First Aid Skills & Life Saving Emergency Procedure Training (e.g. CPR) to Lay Men like Factory Workers.

The ASWT ALIPORE HOSPITAL NURSING & PARA-MEDICAL INSTITUTE is a Social Work Project and therefore we do not Charge any Fees. However we strive to Provide the Best Quality of Education and try to give these Students Certificates not only of Alipore Hospital NURSING & PARA-MEDICAL INSTITUTE but also from Nationally Recognized Education Regulating Bodies like IGNOU/ UGC / Gujarat Government etc. so that they may get Suitable employment too.
