Following are some of the words of
advices given to us, the trustees of Alipore Social Welfare Trust, by
Late Mr. Ismail Hassan Mayet to us during the conversations which we had
always kept in our minds:-
-
‘There are two routes to
success, easy and hard, go for hard route, you would not have any
competition.’
-
‘There is no substitute
to hard work, and dedication.’
-
‘Money can not buy
Loyalty and Trustworthiness.’
-
‘Do what no one have
done and achieve like no one has achieved.’
-
‘Do social work for the
sake of weaker section and you will get prayers and appreciation in
return and work for effluent class and you will get words of advices
and criticism.’
-
‘Serve with quality and
perfection and not with quantity.’
-
‘The farther we dream of
travelling, the closer and tighter must be our strengths and
resolve.’
-
‘Intensity to Win is the
burning desire to stretch and challenge our limits. It’s desire to
realize and expand our potential. It’s about continuous innovation
and striving to be better every time. It’s about multiplying forces
as a team. No one wins 100% of time, but those who have the
Intensity to Win, win more often than not.’

Today when we sit and ponder, we feel we had been
inspired by a great person whose words of advices were very useful to
us.
If we think about the words one can write many pages
describing and elaborating in detail regarding these words of advises,
but for a layman, here are the following reasons why we feel his words
of advices were true:
v
-
We achieved success by choosing the
hard route and expanded our Departments and services at Alipore
Social Welfare Trust and Alipore Hospital. When odds were against
this project, we had this great gentleman with his group of friends
like Haji Ebrahim Mohammed Karolia, Haji Ahmed Fakir Maniyar and
Haji Ebrahim Asmalji Patel behind us to give us moral support.
-
Hard work and dedication always work
well. We now have a solid example of Alipore Hospital, ASWT Disaster
Relief Fund and ASWT Education Relief and Scholarship Fund.
-
Loyalty and Trustworthiness comes
within the persons and rightfully we have identified this in our
team.
-
We started our social work with this
advice and have achieved what we never expected; in fact we achieved
more than we expected. All the activities at Alipore Social Welfare
Trust are the examples of these words.
-
True, the social work is to be done
for the poorest of the poor section of the community who have no one
to look after. These are the part of population who see our doctors
and staffs working as the miracle men. They truly appreciate their
work and virtually feel that the services done at Alipore Hospital
are God-sent to them. Likewise, the same services (even with better
infrastructure) provided to richer class of community what we get
are mere criticism or simple words of appreciations like Thanks or
the services were okay but ……; affluent section of society feel that
services provided to them is their privilege and poor class of
society feel the services have been a boon to them; hence we were
advised to concentrate on weaker section of the community. We
introduced that type of services and facilities in this remote area
which were only available in the cities.
-
Serving the community with quality
and perfection is far more superior than to showing off with the
quantity of person you have served. At Alipore Social Welfare Trust,
we have examples in our activities like Alipore Hospital & Research
Centre, ASWT Education Relief and Scholarship Fund, 24 Hrs Ambulance
Service, 24Hrs Emergency Service, Day and Night Alipore Hospital
Medical Store and ASWT Disaster Relief Fund.
-
The farther we dream of travelling, the closer and
tighter must be our strengths and resolve:
As we start developing and introducing new department, services and
facilities we have to be ready to manage and utilise these services
at optimum level and also must have resources and backup to serve
with quality. We are just doing that.
-
Intensity to Win has been his slogan, Late Ismail
Hassan Mayet, had always been a person who would accept any
challenge and try his best to win. He believed in Teamwork. His
advise was to identify and select only those team members who are
dedicated and have sense of responsibility. Once we have a team, we
never have to look back on whatever work we plan to do. Winning is
secondary, we may win or lose or stay in between but what is
necessary is the Intensity to Win. Once we have Intensity
to Win we shall surely reach our goal.
His vision was enormous; he made a team of dedicated
social workers who have taken his words as a challenge. Today, we are
proud to have Haji Yusuf Hassan Mayet, his brother and Haji Yusuf
Mohammed Karolia of Batley, UK in ASWT Family because of his initiation.
These Two Gentlemen organised themselves and formed a team of
Representatives and Volunteers and have in all respect strengthened the
foundation of Alipore Social Welfare Trust. Today, because of their good
work in donation-drive, it is possible for us to provide various welfare
works and activities.
Selecting the right person and at the right time was his speciality.
Haji Yusuf Hassan Mayet and Haji Yusuf Mohammed Karolia had then
organised a team of Representatives and Volunteers like Mr. Salim
Yusuf Loonat, Mr. Salim Mulla, Haji Hasan Karolia, Moulana Ahmed
Sidat JP, Mr. Ismail Mulla, Mr. Hasan Musa Lunat, Mr. Musa Mohamed
Akudi, Mr. Muneer Daji, Mr. Yusuf Shafi, Mr. Mohammed Karolia, Mr.
Rafik Namazi, Mr. M Amin Laher, Mr. Ayyub Laher, Mr. Salim Raja,
Mr. Abubakkar Mamaniat, Mr. Gulam Mulla, Mr. Shaukat Emam, Mr.
Kaushar Tai, Mr. Miya Hajat, Hafez Ahmed Loonat, Liyakat Karolia,
Hassan Ismail Karolia, Mr. A. R. Laher, Mr. Ismail E. Baser and many
other volunteers.
With these network of Representatives and Volunteers in
ASWT family we have always found that their moral and unconditional
support and co-operation.
