PROPOSED ASWT ENGLISH TEACHING INSTITUTE

EDUCATION

We all need food, clothing and shelter for our basic needs to survive. But now, when the life has turned from local to provincial, and from provincial to national, and from national to international and from international to global and from global to universal. It’s Space Age now, we have fast life and higher technology. Hence now one more basic need is education.

IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION

Education is our priority in this age of fast life and information Technology. In cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and other Metropolitan cities, the parents have to book the seat in advance, well before the child is born. Interviews of parents are taken well before the child is born. This is for the parents who know the importance of education and to try to admit their child to best institutions in the city. What about the population in the villages and remote areas?

LITERACY RATE IN INDIA

When we talk about India, it should be noted that 80% of the more than 1 billion populations in India live in villages. What we know from various surveys is that 65% of Indian population is illiterate. More than 70% of the population find hard to sing national anthem of their country out of which 18% have hardly heard what it is. Isn’t it alarming?

All the great people who have been on this earth have always been educated in one way or the other. Even in Stone Age, we find that the inhabitants in that age were also carving in the caves and write memoirs as per their knowledge.

Proper knowledge is achieved only if one is educated. After achieving Independence, Indian Government and many private organizations have set up many schools and colleges in the Rural India. But Quality of education is a Must.

If we talk of the schools in rural areas, then it should be noted that these institutions are mainly in their state languages, for example if the institution is in Gujarat the medium is Gujarati, if its in Maharashtra State its got to be Marathi and so on. (Click here for Newspaper Survey Report)

IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH EDUCATION

English is important language if we are talking about global. We find many a people who look well educated cant even fill up Embarkation Form in the airports.  Why is it so? The reason is because of lack of English education in the academic level. Lets us think about some of the following situation if one has to experience in ones life:

  1. JOB SEEKING: If one needs a job, the candidate requires the eligibility to write and read in English.  Computers are generally operated in English. Many shops have computerized billing which is all in English. Hence English is the most essential language in this age.

  2. TRAVELLING IN INDIA: Even in India, if one travels to south Indian villages, hardly anyone knows the national language of their country, Hindi, one have to converse in English which the locals might have studied from their school level, provided they had ever been educated.

  3. TRAVELLING INTERNATIONALLY: If this is the position in the national level, what can happen if one has to travel in any other country without any knowledge about English. All the airports, railways stations, hospitals, signboards are all in English.

  4. STUDYING HIGHER EDUCATION: What happens when a child is educated in any other language other than English? If the child is trying to become a lawyer or in Medicine Faculty or wants to study MBA  or become a Chartered Accountant or Cost Accountant or Engineer, he has to know Higher Level of English. A student from any other language medium has to refer to dictionary for each and every word which is very depressing to him and have to read each topic many a times to learn and understand the same. If a child is educated in English Medium school he hardly has to refer to any dictionary and will understand and easy learn the topic in the first attempt itself.

These are just a few situations we are pondering about. We really have an acute problem of Higher Education Rate in our villages in Valsad and Navsari Districts. If we talk of Higher English Education then we hardly have 0.01% who are literate or are studying Higher English Medium in any Faculty.

ASWT ENGLISH TEACHING INSTITUTE

Before situation worsens, we have a plan to join hands with all the people from Alipore and villages around Alipore and setup an Institution where we can provide Higher English education from the Kindergarten level to Higher Secondary level. This campus will have well educated staffs and also have lodging and boarding facilities for students from the far away villages. For this, we have initially named this Project as, ‘ASWT English Teaching Institute’ which may be renamed, if necessary, by the future managing committee members.

Here we shall start the Education Awareness programme by directly contacting people from all villages and set up a committee which shall comprise of village elders, school teachers or principals and professionals.

We extend our deep gratitude to Mr. Mast Mangera of Kangwai, Mr. Yusuf Asvatt of Jogwad, Village Kathor Principal Mohamed Rafik Dhorat of Bhoria, Kholwad Hostel In-charge Mr. Yusuf Dhorat of Bhoria, Ismail Mulla of Leicester/Jogwad, Ebrahimbhai Bala of Batley/Thala and many people for various villages for their deep concern they have shown towards the education needs in our community.

We have introduced ASWT Education Relief Fund and ASWT Scholarship Fund to create awareness and help students by encouraging them to concentrate in their studies and also educate them according to their potentials.

For this project we require feedbacks from all the people from Alipore and surrounding villages to come forward and send us their opinions and suggestions.
