INAUGURATION OF SPIRAL CT SCAN CENTRE

& MEETING CUM HEALTH AWARENESS FUNCTION

 

The Inauguration Of Spiral Ct Scan Centre & Meeting Cum Health Awareness Function was organised at ALIPORE HOSPITAL CAMPUS, Alipore, on 19th November 2008 at 3.30 p.m.

 

Dr. Apoorva Vasavada Specialist Cardio Vascular and  Thoracic Surgeon and Dr. Mahesh Vinchurkar Specialist Cardio Vascular and  Thoracic Surgeon from Surat were the Chief Guest of the Function. Dr M M Qureshi, CEO, Pardi Hospital and Dr. Rahul Garasia, Radiologist were Chief Speakers.

 MINUTES:

 

a)   QIRAAT (Recitation of the Holy Qur’aan): To start the programme it is very beneficial to begin with recitation from the words of Allah, the Almighty and Most Merciful, hence the Imamsahab of Alipore Hospital Prayer Hall recited some verses of Holy Qur’aan.

 

b)     Welcoming the Guests: Mr. Bashir Karolia, Secretary, Alipore Social Welfare Trust, welcomed the guest and also gave brief detail about the programme and services rendered at Alipore Hospital. Mr. Hassan Mayet, President Alipore Social Welfare Trust, Mr. Bashir Karolia and Mr. Gulam Nabi Laher, Treasurer, Alipore Social Welfare Trust, gave flowers to each guest as announced the names of each guest.

 

c)   ANNOUNCEMENT OF CHAIR: Mr. Hassan Mayet, President, Alipore Social Welfare Trust, suggested that there are many personalities who are worthy for the Chair and hence right now this seat can be considered hot seat today but amongst many personalities the highest points went to Mr. Yusuf Mohammed Karolia of Batley, UK, who is also famously called as Cha-cha. Amongst applause his suggestion was seconded by Mr. Ashraf Hasam Vali. Mr. Yusuf Karolia approached to the dais and took his seat as a Chair.

 

d)   INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
 

      1)   About Dr. Apurva Vasavada: Dr. Ankur Talavia, MD (Medicine) of ASWT’s Alipore Hospital, expressed deep gratitude of the Guest and delegates and he said he shall introduce to the people about our today's Chief Guest Dr. Apurva Vasavada, a renowned Cardiologist & Cardiovascular Interventionist from Surat. He said that the services  rendered by Dr. Apurva Vasavada are, Diagnostic Coronary and Peripheral Angiography,Coronary Angioplasty & Complex Coronary Interventions, Rotablator (Drilling Technique), Carotid Stenting / Peripheral Stenting (Stenting for Brain, Leg and Kidney Arteries),Technique for on Line Physiological Assessment of Blocks (Where Angiography has Limitations),Intra Aortic Balloon Pump and Temporary & Permanent Pacemaker  

      

      2)   About Dr. Mahesh Vinchurkar: Dr. Amit Dev expressed his feelings about the programme and gave brief introduction of Chief Guest Dr. Mahesh Vinchurkar, a Specialist Cardio Vascular and  Thoracic Surgeon from Surat. Dr. Deo gave brief details of the achievements of Dr. Mahesh Vinchurkar are his Complicated Heart Surgeries Surgeries Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Beating Heart Surgery, Valve Replacement, Congenital Heart Surgery, Thoracoscopy, Mediastinoscopy, Vascular Repair, Reconstruction, Lung resection, Thoracic Mass, Decortications, Awake Cardiac Surgery and Aortic Root Replacement.    
 

e)  NAZAM, A POEM
 

     Mr. Najirbhai Kanu, a School Teacher and Compere of this Health Awareness Function, sang a very melodious Nazam which created a very solemn atmosphere.

 

f)   Brief Introduction of the Chair: Mr. Hassan Mayet gave brief introduction of the Chair, Mr. Yusuf Karolia. Mr. Bashir Karolia stated that Mr. Yusuf Karolia had been a very ardent supporter of ASWT and had been helping ASWT a lot by giving his valuable time and energy for Fund-Raising of ASWT and that he had been witnessing Mr. Yusuf Karolia knocking each door in Batley even in bad weather for the Fund-raising of ASWT.

 

g)  INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF ALIPORE SPIRAL C T SCAN CENTRE: The red ribbon was jointly cut by the Chief Guests Dr. Apurva Vasavada and Dr. Mahesh Vinchurkar amongst the applause of all the delegates.

 

h)    FEW WORDS FROM:
 

      i)  Dr. M. M. Qureshi (MS), CEO, Pardi Hospital, Pardi started this programme stating that looking at the infrastructure and facilities available at ALIPORE HOSPITAL almost 95% of all primary care can be taken of the patients and now that Spiral CT SCAN has been introduced which is like a feather in cap for the organisation, one can proudly call this an IDEAL TRAUMA CARE CENTRE. The rest 5% are Super Specialist Departments like Cardiac, Cancer and other Advanced Medical Care Units. He said whenever he passed through the national Highway and would see Alipore Hospital he would feel a peculiar vibration and pull towards this Campus and now that he is here as a Speaker he feels privileged. He thanked ASWT Trustees and also extended his full co-operation and support to ASWT and wished the best for the organisation. He also added that Alipore Hospital is one of the greatest achievement of a Social Welfare Trust which is run by a Minority Group of Personalities in South Gujarat, hence it is one of the greatest achievement of ASWT.

      

      ii) Dr. Rahul Garasia (MD), Radiologist and Sonologist, Alipore Spiral CT Scan Centre, gave brief introduction of the Importance of IMAGING Department in the Modern Medical Health Care. With the advancement of Technology medical equipments for Imaging like X Ray, Sonography, 2D & 3D Colour Dopplers, Foetal Doppler, CT SCAN, Mammography, IITV, MRI etc has played an important role as far as diagnosis is concerned. He also gave brief examples of how and when to recommend for different types of Imaging to the Doctors present. Dr. Garasia also added that with technological development we now have Radiation Safe procedures, which are very safe for Patients and their relatives.

     

      iii) Dr. Amit Deo (MS), Full-Time Orthopaedic Surgeon of Alipore Hospital, stated that at Alipore Hospital we have different types of Advanced Orthopaedic Surgeries which are very safe and had given great results. He also stated that now we are well-equipped and have performed surgeries like Hip Replacement and can do Knee Joint Replacement too. He said that the Orthopaedic Operation Theatre at Alipore Hospital was the one of best he had seen in the area. The Operation Theatre for Orthopaedic Surgeries is equipped with Arthroscopic Machines and C-Arm IITV, which has enabled the surgeries to be safer and fast in healing.

      

      iv) Dr. Ankur Talavia (MD), Full-Time Physician of Alipore Hospital stated that at Alipore Hospital we have a well-Equipped ICCU and we are on verge of Developing a proper Surgical ICU. We have very advanced machineries and equipments, which are only found in major towns and cities. He assured the doctors from various villages that he and his teammates and fellow Doctors shall give full attention to all the patients during emergencies and casualties or even otherwise. He also added that Alipore Hospital has host of Visiting Physicians and Surgeons from Many Medical Faculties like Ophthalmologist, Pathologists, Paediatricians, Dermatologist, Psychiatrists, Neuro Physicians, Nephrologists and a very High-Tech Haemodialysis facilities.

      

      v) Dr. Nirav Desai (MS), General & Laparoscopic Surgeon, Alipore Hospital, stated that three years ago when he was passing by the National Highway, he had the first glimpse of Alipore Hospital Campus and that is when he experienced an attraction towards this place. Although he was giving medical services at Doctor House in Valsad, he requested the trustees to give him the opportunity to work at this facility to serve the poor and the sick. He found the board members very dedicated and till date he has been working at this Hospital and had performed many surgeries for which people had to travel to major cities. He added that all Surgical facilities are available here apart from this Alipore Hospital has Neuro Physician, Neuro Surgeons, Urologist, Plastic  and Cosmetic Surgeon,

     

      vi) Dr. Dharmishta Patel, Physiotherapist, Alipore Hospital, stated that she is proud to have been associated with Alipore Hospital and that the Physiotherapy is a must in this fast and jet age. Most of the problems could have been averted if we had changed our lifestyle. Modern technologies and equipments have made us all human-beings idle and lazy. We all should have a little bit of workouts and had spared a little time for our physics. This is a preventive care but once there are trauma care, neuropathic or joint problem patients they need proper physiotherapy and for this purpose Alipore Hospital is well-equipped and the charges for the procedures are very nominal and even free for the poor patients.

     

      vii) Dr. Bharat Patel, (MBBS) Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre, Gujarat Government Referral Hospital, Chikhli, said that Alipore Hospital was a boon to the locality and was serving for humanity with all facilities and services which no other medical centre provides along the National Highway in 40 Kms Radius. This hospital has taken care of all types of Trauma Care and Alipore Hospital has always co-operated with the Government Primary Health Centres and have treated poor citizens with equal vigour and whenever he had referred his patients to Alipore Hospital he had found that his patients have always been given best of the treatments available. In fact, he said it would never be wrong to state that this hospital had served the kind of services that in real sense the government centres should serve. He felt that there are need of proper health care centres in remote areas in the state and he would be very much pleased and wishes that if hospitals and people like Alipore Hospital are there in each Talukas and areas then most of the health problems could be solved locally itself.

 

viii) Mr. Sanjay Desai, Trustee, Chikhli Arts & Commerce College, Chikhli, stated that Alipore Hospital is a success story. In past 7 years, the biggest achievement of Alipore Hospital was to serve and equip the departments with Most Modern Facilities available in all Medical Faculties. He had seen that the poor and needy patients suffer in other medical centres but has always found that poor patients had been given with best of the medical treatment and were more satisfied with the treatment they get at Alipore Hospital.

He said as he was in contact with people, masses, the information he gets were very pleasing, and the trustees were very helpful to the poor and needy patients. He found trustees taking rounds in the hospital and were very critical on even minute mistakes or irregularities and hence this hospital is always found to be clean and hygienic than most of the hospitals in the area. He wished that Alipore Hospital should succeed in becoming a hospital with all medical care in Super Specialist Point of view and those patients having Cancer and Major Heart Problems could be treated in the Campus itself.

 

ix) Mr. Salim Patel, Secretary, Alipore Muslim Association, Alipore, stated that he was pleased to inform that Alipore Hospital was service the rich and poor with equal care and that the team of Trustees and Doctors were one of the best in the area and that in long run Alipore Hospital shall prove to be a Major Diagnostic Centre. He said that this was the dream and vision of Late Mr. Ismail Mayet Jawahar, who is the father of Mr Hassan Mayet, President of this Institution. He felt earlier few decades ago, there was urgent need of proper medical care in the area, and that after the start of medical services at Alipore Hospital; the need is fulfilled. He further added that  Alipore Hospital has set an example how a Social Welfare Hospital should be, and this hospital has served the rich and the poor with equality and given maximum reliefs to the poor patients.

 

i)    WORDS FROM CHIEF GUESTS

I)    Dr. Apurva Vasavada, Cardiologist & Cardiovascular Interventionist, Surat, started his lecture with preventive health care, which would be ideal to save people from Heart diseases and Blood Pressure. He stated that that we can avoid heart attack if we change our lifestyles and our eating habits. He said some workouts, walking briskly, avoiding fatty foods, are some of the rules one must apply. He gave detailed information about blocks, Angiography,Angioplasty and Echo Cardiography.

He was pleased that Alipore Hospital is equipped with a state-of-art ICCU and also has 2d Echo Cardiography machine and a Computerised Stress Test Machine. He was also pleased that Alipore Hospital’s Full Time Consultant Physician, Dr. Ankur Talavia was a qualified Echo Cardiographist. He was very much impressed with the services Alipore Hospital had provided and stated that all patients sent from Alipore Hospital were treated with perfect medication and he was very happy with the patient’s health records whenever he read the files of the medical records of each patient he had treated. He found it very pleasing to have been invited here at Alipore Hospital healthcare Function and for Inaugurating the Spiral CT Scan Centre. Alipore Hospital shall make a remarkable mark in the state was his wish.

 

      II)   Dr. Mahesh Vinchurkar, Cardio Vascular and  Thoracic Surgeon, Surat stated that he was very pleased to attend this programme and felt privileged to be here on the dais as one of the Chief Guest. He gave detailed information about   Cardio Vascular surgeries. He also stated that he was very pleased to see many of the patients whom he had performed by-pass surgeries are among the audiences. He said that Heart Surgeries are becoming easier and safer than couple of decades ago. There is very little risk involved compared to earlier days. This is due to the modern medical equipments available and because of technological advancement.

 

      He stated that many poor patients from Alipore Hospital were treated with equal facilities as of rich patients by him. He further added Alipore Hospital has always tried its best to serve the poor and sick patients and he had been giving Fortnightly Consulting Services at Alipore Hospital and was very much pleased to know that rich and poor patients who comes in the hospital are given equal diagnostic services irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion. He added that Alipore Hospital was an ideal welfare hospital and this is how a welfare multidiscipline Hospital should be. He extended deepest gratitude to the trustees for inviting him and respecting him to be a Chief Guest in this function and also for inaugurating Alipore Spiral CT Scan Centre.

 

j)   FEW WORDS FROM PRESIDENT OF ASWT & VOTE OF THANKS

Mr. Hassan Mayet: Chairman, Alipore Social Welfare Trust and Alipore Hospital firstly stated that he had heard all the comments and suggestions of each delegates and many visitors in the audiences and shall do the needful as far as healthcare is concerned. He said he was very grateful to have Dr. Apoorva Vasavada, Dr. Mahesh Vinchurkar, Dr. M. M. Qureshi, Dr. Bharat Patel, Dr. Thakor Patel, Dr. Parvez Shaikh and Dr. Rahul Garasia at one stage and this is due to their feelings for the poor and needy patients that they have spared their valuable time on a working day which will be well remembered by him and his colleagues. He pledged that he and his team members would try to strive for acquiring the best of the medical facilities and equipments in the area, and shall provide with all medical services even better.

 

      He said that the need today for any Institution or Charity is of  the unity amongst its organizers. As he had learnt from his school days, that UNITED WE STAND AND DIVIDED WE FALL. He called all his board members – Mr Bashir Karolia, Mr. Gulam Nabi Laher, Mr. Ashraf Vali and  Mr. A Hai Gajaria on the dais. He then added that this work was not the work of one individual but of the team members and being the head of this team was a privilege for him as his team had been very co-operative and understanding. He then extended his deepest gratitude to all of them and  also their families.

He said to acquire expensive infrastructural equipments in medical diagnostic centre is not a joke and hence he said it was made possible by people like Mr. Yusuf Karolia and Mr. Mohammed Karolia who are present in the dais and that they and some members of group of people would go for donation campaign drive and do the needful and that is how they made it possible for us to acquire machineries and equipments and also to provide with medical reliefs to the poor and needy patients. He also acknowledged Muslim Aid UK who has always been regular in sponsoring equipments and also for being partner of Scholarship Programmes each year. With all good words and wishes from elders and every side, he said with Almighty’s mercy ASWT shall always see to it that all facilities and services are equivalent to those which are available in cities like Mumbai, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. He again expressed his deepest gratitudes to all the members and Doctors present in the audiences and also to all those delegates who were on the dais.

 

k) FELICITATION OF Mr. ASHRAF VALI FOR HIS HAJJ PILGRIMAGE
 
Mr. Ashraf Vali shall be leaving India for Holy Pilgrimage for Hajj and hence Mr. Hassan Mayet, President of Alipore Social Welfare Trust requested Mr. Bashir Karolia, Secretary, Alipore Social Welfare Trust to felicitate him by spreading Shawl on his shoulder which Mr. Bashir Karolia did. This was an emotional time where all the Board Members embraced each other and all the members on the dais shook hands with each other.

Mr. Abdul Hai Gajaria,
Vice-President, Alipore Social Welfare Trust, thanked all the audiences and appreciated them for being a good listen in this Health Awareness and Inauguration of Alipore Spiral C T SCAN CENTRE. He also thanked all the Doctors and delegates present on the dais and amongst the audiences. And declared that after the Duaa Ceremony the functions comes to an end and also requested that Buffet Dinner was ready and hence all the delegates should enjoy eating before leaving the campus. Mr. A Hai Gajaria himself prayed duaa to Almighty and all the delegates present replied with Ameen.

 

p)      BUFFET DINNER 
A delicious 11 Course buffet Vegetarian Thali Dinner was organised in the Campus. All the Delegates enjoyed the food and left after exchanging greetings to the trustees of ASWT.
